Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious or worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:4-7
Keys to this passage to remember:
Rejoice in the Lord - Always.
Be a reasonable person to everyone.
Don't worry about anything.
Ask God for what you want.
Be thankful for what he has already given you and what he will give.
Someone once told it to me this way. Imagine one of your children is in 3rd grade. One day the school calls and says they are really worried about going home because they think that you're not going to feed them or take care of them anymore. Assuming you're a good parent, how crazy does that sound? God is a good God and He is our Father. It's the same scenario, when you think of this analogy with God as the parent, how much more crazy does it sound? He will take care of you. He will not just give whatever you want but he will provide everything you need in the best ways possible. Because of this we need to be asking in prayer for things to be carried out according to His will. He created everything we know just by speaking it into existence. He can handle whatever it is you're going through. And when we do everything Paul encourages us to do in this passage, God will give us a peace through Jesus Christ that we cannot comprehend!
